About This Role
A major EPC contractor is looking for a Lead Subsea Engineer to head up their subsea engineering team in Kuala Lumpur. You will be responsible for the overall technical delivery of subsea engineering workscope across multiple SURF projects, ensuring design integrity and project milestones are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the subsea engineering team across multiple concurrent projects
- Define engineering execution strategy and resource allocation for subsea workscopes
- Oversee FEED and detailed design deliverables with quality and schedule accountability
- Act as technical authority for subsea engineering decisions and design changes
- Coordinate with project management on engineering progress, risks, and opportunities
- Manage client and third-party interfaces at engineering level
- Drive value engineering and design optimization initiatives
- Develop team capabilities through coaching, training, and knowledge sharing
Core Requirements
- Minimum 15 years of subsea engineering experience with at least 5 years in a lead role
- Proven track record delivering subsea engineering on EPC projects from FEED to installation
- Strong knowledge of SURF systems, subsea production systems, and deepwater developments
- Experience managing engineering teams of 10+ engineers across multiple disciplines
- Comprehensive understanding of industry codes and standards (DNV, API, ISO)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Master's degree preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) registration
- Experience with lump-sum EPC project delivery
- Previous leadership role on a major deepwater SURF project (>USD 500M)
