About This Role
A major EPC contractor is seeking an FPSO Design Manager / Project Engineering Manager (PEM) for their Kuala Lumpur office. You will lead the engineering design management for FPSO projects, ensuring technical integrity, design coordination, and project delivery excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all engineering design activities for FPSO projects
- Coordinate multi-discipline engineering: hull, topsides, marine, and subsea
- Ensure design compliance with class society rules, statutory requirements, and client specs
- Manage design change process and technical queries resolution
- Oversee design reviews: HAZID, HAZOP, TRA, design review workshops
- Monitor engineering progress, resource allocation, and budget adherence
- Interface with client, class society, and regulatory bodies on technical matters
- Drive design optimization and value engineering initiatives
Core Requirements
- Minimum 15 years of engineering experience with 8+ years on FPSO projects
- Proven track record as Design Manager or PEM on at least one FPSO project lifecycle
- Strong knowledge of FPSO design: hull, topsides, mooring, and marine systems
- Experience with class society rules (ABS, DNV, BV) and statutory requirements
- Multi-discipline engineering coordination and leadership capability
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Master's preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer registration
- Experience with FPSO conversion and new-build projects
- Previous EPC contractor design management on lump-sum FPSO projects
